Hi, My name is Jaya Patel and I am the owner of this site. I have a story to share with you.
My journey to natural healing and healthy eating started 15 years ago and it hasn’t stopped.
After the birth of my 1st daughter, I gained 60 lbs. I was obviously not one of those women who could pop a baby out and get back to my original shape. I had been thin all my life, a petite 5’2″ and had worn size 2 pretty much my whole adult life.
So the 60 lb weight was devastating to me, I lost my identity of who I was on top of dealing with becoming a new mom.
I learned about nutrition and food combining and a vigorous exercise routine. I had never counted calories in my life but I started doing that. It was simple math to me. As long as I expend more calories that I am taking in, I should lose weight.
Ofcourse it was much more than calorie counting though. I maximized my nutrition so my body didn’t feel starved, and I learned about foods that helped me feel nourished.
It took me 2 years to take the 60 lbs off but I did do it! Naturally, with the ultimate focus on health. It never occurred to me to take diet pills or try to lose weight through fast methods. Somehow, health was a priority and the naturalist in me did not want to rely on anything fake.
Then right when i got back into my shape, I got pregnant again. I gained 50 lbs with the birth of my 2nd daughter. I worked hard again and within a year I lost the 50 lbs and was back to my pre-baby weight.
In five years time, I had gained and lost my entire body weight….110 lbs.
Furthermore, with the birth of my 2nd daughter, I was also feeling exhausted all the time. It did not fit my type “A” personality to say the least. It was not acceptable to me to be in my 30′s and feel like I did, totally exhausted trying to deal with 2 young ones at home and wondering about my purpose and place in life.
Eventually I found out, the exhaustion had to do with low thyroid function and hormonal imbalances.
My journey to health and wellness continues. I am obsessed with feeling your best every single day through nutrition and natural healing.
Since then, i have spent hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours on natural and alternative health and nutrition topics.
I attended the Natural Gourmet Institute which is the only organic mostly plant based culinary program in the world. That took my nutrition knowledge to another level.
My intention through this site is to help one person at a time achieve better understanding of health and nutrition and healing naturally.
I will continue to post great health focused recipes (and delicious), topics on nutrition, alternative medicine, and natural remedies.
